THE BEST FOUNDATIONS FOR SUMMER

best foundations for summerPNG

It has been awhile since I shared some of my favorite beauty products and with summer right around the corner, I thought this would be the perfect time! Midwestern summers are usually hot, humid, and sticky and needless to say… not very makeup friendly. When it comes to my summer makeup routine, I like to keep things simple and glowy and it all starts at the base with foundation! My recommendations depend on things like occasion, what type of skin you have, and what coverage you’re looking for. I always want to be a resource and teach you easy tips and tricks that will help you feel confident from the inside and out, I thought I’d dedicate this post to the best foundations for summer! Here’s the low down…

THE ORDINARY COVERAGE FOUNDATION

Price: $7. Yes, you read that right! It feels SO high end for the price point.

My experience: This has been one of my favorite foundations for about a year now for so many reasons. The consistency is extremely lightweight and almost resembles a serum type feel. It is really light for a liquid foundation which is why it’s a summertime staple. It spreads so easily to give a natural finish and evenly to avoid the heavy/fake look! It says it is a full coverage but I like to think of it as more of a medium to full coverage. Since this is extremely lightweight, you can build it if you want more of a full coverage but I like to keep things light and simple with one small pump! It dries with more of a slight matte finish. I say slight because it’s matte but you can still see the naturalness to your face. Wears well over primer or just a moisturizer. Can’t say enough good things!

My shade: 2.1P Medium (with pink undertones). There are 21 shades to choose from so there are plenty of options depending on your skin tone and undertone. The shades are divided into three categories: 1 for fair to lighter tones, 2 for medium tones, and 3 for darker tones. Each category is then broken down by a second digit from 0 to 3 to indicate depth within each category. Lastly, a letter is added to the shade code to identify the undertone: P (Pink) and R (Red) indicate cool undertones for lighter and darker shades. N indicates a Neutral tone and Y indicates a Yellow undertone. They have a great foundation guide to help you find which is best for you!

Ingredient & Technologies: Free of: alcohol, oil, nut, gluten. Vegan and cruelty free! SPF 15

IT COSMETICS CC CREAM

Price: $39.50 and worth every cent!

My experience: This CC Cream has been my go to summer foundation for THREE years now and still going strong! When it comes to summer beauty, this is my MUST have item. It is basically a hydrating foundation, mineral sunscreen, and serum all in one. This formula is extremely hydrating and gives your face a smooth, even look without creasing or cracking! My Melasma comes out in the summer from the increased amount of sun exposure and this does a good job of covering that up and shrinks my pores. I like to think of this as if a foundation and a tinted moisturizer had a baby… this would be it! PLUS it has SPF 50 in it which is awesome. I still apply my regular sunscreen under it since I don’t rely on only SPF in the product but it is an amazing added bonus.

My shade: Medium. In the summer when I have a nice tan I am more of the medium shade but in the winter months, I like the Light Medium shade. Just depends on the depth of tan I have! This CC cream comes in 12 shades depending on your skin type and what type of color you are looking for.

Ingredient & Technologies: Collagen to support skin elasticity for a youthful appearance. Niacin to help promote a more even skin tone and help to combat the appearance of acne and hyperpigmentation. Peptides to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Antioxidants to help reduce the appearance of visible signs of skin damage and aging. Hyaluronic Acid to help attract moisture.

NARS SHEER GLOW

Price: $47 best high end foundation on the market! Hands. Down.

My experience: I’ve been using this Sheer Glow Foundation the longest out of the three! I absolutely love the coverage on this once since it is more of a light to medium coverage but still buildable. It gives such a natural looking finish I sometimes forget that I’m wearing it! Even thought it is a light to medium coverage, I feel like it gives the perfect amount of coverage to where my face feels even but I still can see a little bit on my imperfections, which I like! I always want to feel like myself and never like my face is completely blurred and unrealistic. It leaves my skin feeling hydrated, bright, and even.

My shade: Vallauris (medium skin with pink undertones). One of the best things about this foundation is that it comes in 34 shades to choose from. 34! I have more pink undertones so this is the perfect shade. I actually base other brands foundation colors off this one because it truly is my perfect shade. They have a great shade finder on the site if you are not sure what color would work best for you!
