MY 2020 FALL WISH LIST
Hey girl! I hope you are having a wonderful week and enjoying this amazing weather we have been having in the Midwest. Now that Labor Day has passed, I feel like we’ve given summer the proper send off and can start gearing up for fall! Over the past couple years, I have been all over the place when it comes to shopping for a new season. I find myself buying things I don’t need and getting caught up in the moment or trends. Anyone else feel my pain?
This year, I want to shop more intentionally and keep my shopping in check while streamlining my closet by creating a fall wish list! This list is going to help me narrow down what my closet is missing, focus on revamping old items to replace (maybe they’re old or faded), and incorporating new trends. Today I’m going to share my 2020 fall wish list by chatting about trends I’m loving, why certain pieces made the list, and sharing things I have my eye on!
MY 2020 FALL WISH LIST
BETTER BASICS
What do I mean by better basics? Think of items like bodysuits, t-shirts, or anything that can be used for layering! I’ve noticed that my basics are a little old, dingy, and need to be updated. I would love to add a couple basic items so I can mix and match them with different jeans, cardigans, and sweaters to maximize my closet while buying a few key pieces!
BELT BAG
Hear me out on this! I know the whole “belt bag” trend, aka glorified fanny packs, has been a hot topic this summer but I think when done right, they can be cute. I am not talking about those bulky, neon fanny packs that you are used to seeing! I am more so looking for the neutral, leather bags that are tasteful yet functional. How nice will it be to not worry about your purse falling off your shoulder when you’re bundled up in a coat this winter?! I found this Rebecca Minkoff Mini Belt Bag on Amazon for $55! I love the honey color and think it will go well with all the fall colors (white, black, brown, green, orange, etc) and you can see how I styled it on my Instagram.
TAUPE BOOTIES
I have been looking for a pair of taupe booties, preferably pointed toe to elongate my legs, for months now! I specifically love the taupe color because it is one of the more universal colors. It looks good with black jeans, blue jeans, dresses, you name it! You can also take them into spring with your florals and pops of pink so I think they are a great year round investment.
RIBBED MIDI DRESS
Thinking of another item I can layer so many different ways— a ribbed midi dress! I am leaning towards a ribbed material because I think it is more figure flattering, warmer type of fabric for the colder months, and adds another element to the dress. A midi would be ideal so I can wear it all fall and winter despite the drop in temperatures! I am envisioning all the ways I can layer this dress with a utility jacket or denim jacket and booties, or even with a sweater and sneakers.
BUTTON DOWN TOP
I’ve fallen in love with the idea of an oversized button down shirt after seeing it over and over on Pinterest. You can see my inspiration here, here, and here! I think it is such a classic, timeless piece that can be worn a million different ways. There are so many ways to keep it simple or spice it up with color and prints!
SECOND PIERCING
I know this is not exactly an item but I’ve added it to my list anyway! I used to have a lot of ear piercings in high school but I let them close up in college. You know me, I love to layer my dainty gold necklaces and I’d love to be able to add in more with my earrings! How cute would that be with chunky sweaters and ponytails. I think I can find the courage to get them pierced again. :)
CREAM CARDIGAN
This is another revamp item for my closet! My current cream cardigan is starting to tear and seems to be having one too many wine stains. Oops! Since I am trying to find new pieces to layer like the ribbed dress and bodysuits, I think they deserve a crisp cream cardigan to go over them. This is another seasonal friendly piece that will go great into spring over dresses and shorts!
FLANNELS
I had this on my mind last year but I was worried that I would never wear it. Well.. you know what they say, if you’re still thinking about it a year later, get it. Right? Ha! I think this is a great way to add another timeless piece and create an easy throw-and-go options! Flannels are another great and inexpensive way to add more layering pieces to your closet. Are you sensing a theme yet to my list? :)
STRAIGHT LEG DENIM
Straight leg denim gets a bad reputation because most people are intimidated by the fit looking frumpy and not being figure flattering since it is not skin tight. That is a MYTH! Just because they’re not skinny jeans doesn’t mean they won’t look flattering. Straight leg jeans can make your booty look gooooood ok. They are my favorite jeans to wear with booties!
BLACK JOGGERS
I am having the worst time finding black joggers that don’t look like MC Hammer pants on me! All my 5 foot girls feel my pain. I must have tried 5 pairs these past few weeks and nothing fits right?! If you know of anywhere with petite friendly joggers, send them my way!
