HOW TO WEAR TIE DYE (& LOOK YOUR AGE)
It’s no secret that one of the biggest trends this spring and summer is tie dye! One of the most common questions I get on my Instagram is how to wear tie dye and look age appropriate at the same time. This is a great question and I think one of the most common misconceptions when it comes to wearing something that is full of color and often associated with young(er) people. Today, I am sharing a few ways to wear and style your tie dye pieces that will make you feel on trend but most importantly, your age! I also rounded up my favorite tie dye pieces that are extremely affordable and can take you from the pool to date night to lounging on your couch. Now grab a glass of wine and let’s have a chat…
TIP WHEN SHOPPING FOR TIE DYE:
When shopping for tie dye, I ask myself one question when it comes to this trend. It’s easy to get overwhelmed with all of the bright colors and crazy combinations but just ask yourself:
Does this piece stick to one color palette/tone?
Try and stick to just one color palette or tone to keep the print mature and sophisticated. Think of keeping your cool tones together (violet- blues, blue- greens, yellow- greens) and your warm tones together (yellow-oranges, red-oranges, red-violets). Easy way to keep it neutral yet still add color and look age appropriate!
HOW TO WEAR/STYLE YOUR TIE DYE:
T-SHIRTS/TANKS/SWEATER TOPS/DRESSES
Denim shorts or jeans! Keeps it very casual and crisp
Layer under solid color jacket (denim, athletic, oversized casual blazer)
Solid colored sneakers. My go to is my white sneaks! I’ll link them HERE.
Neutral sandals (brown, black, or white) usually are my summer favorites!
KIMONOS/JACKETS
Love wearing my kimonos as a swimsuit cover up!
Layer over bodysuits (I like to keep it neutral with white, tan, black, gray)
Solid t-shirts. You can wear a version of a color in the tie dye to add more color!
