HOW TO TURN HAT HAIR INTO A GOOD THING

Hey friends and happy Sunday! I’ve been obsessing over hats this year and seem to be adding a new one every month so today meet my new baby- the BAKER BOY HAT from Express. This style is not new to the game, in fact it’s been around since the 20’s!! Whaaaat? It was first worn by the working class or better known as the “newsboys” but lately you can find all your fav celebs rocking this look. Sounds great and all but once you find a new hat you love what the heck are you supposed to do with your hair underneath it? Good thing I got your back because today I'm talking all about dat weave and how to turn hat hair into a good thing, okurrr?! I’ve featured 3 of my favorite hairstyles that are easy, effortless, and can be worn with any hat in your closet! 

SHOELACE BUNS

1. Split hair down the middle.

2. Take one section and split into two again.

3. Take those two sections and tie them in a shoelace knot. Secure with bobby pin on the knot. If you want a messy look, don't pul the knot too tight.

4. Continue to make shoelace knots until you have an inch left of hair, then secure it at the bottom with small clear elastic. Fold under and bobby pin clear elastic to head.

5. Spray your favorite TEXTURIZING SPRAY to add a little grit and hold.

*For my girls with fine hair, gently tug at pieces to create a more full and messy look.

LOOSE WAVES

1. Wrap hair away from your face around a curling wand (I use 1.25 inch barrel), leaving out an inch or so at the ends, and hold for 5 seconds.

2. Release hair from barrel and pull down on the strand while the hair is still hot to loosen up the curl.

3. Add small, little, braids throughout your hair if you want to spice it up and add some fun.

4. Spray with hairspray (I’m using the new THIS L’Oreal Elnett Hairspray) then pick apart your curls with your hands.

5. Brush ends for a natural look and VOILA!

* To get more volume, alternate curling away from your hair/towards your face on the bottom layers.

ELEVATED PONYTAIL

1. Pull hair back into a pony tail and secure with a clear elastic.

2. Bring up the top of the elastic and take a strand out of ponytail

3. Wrap strand around to cover the clear elastic.

4. Pull down on elastic and place hair back into the pony tail.

5. Add volume by lightly pulling up on pony tail

*Add texturizing spray to create more va va voom— I’m using my favorite from Kristin Ess sold exclusively at Target.
