CUSTOMIZED HAIR CARE ROUTINE | MY HONEST EXPERIENCE
Hi friends! Took a little break from FFS because I have had a crazy busy few weeks. If you’re new here or don’t follow me on Instagram, I moved! Still in Indy but now living further north and with a new roomie, my boyfriend Aaron. But now I am back, feeling refreshed and so excited to share this post with you today because I’ve been using a new shampoo and conditioner for the past month and have completely fallen in love! You all know I love chatting about hair and finding new products that make my hair healthy as possible and y’all I found something special. It’s called Formulate! So this post I am going to give you the low down on how it works and how my experience has changed how I look at hair care! How does it work? You start by taking a quick quiz simply sharing a little bit about your current hair and what you want to focus on. Then they formulate (see what I did there) a personalized bottle just for you and your needs and ship it right to your door! They use feedback to make adjustments so it’s totally OK for you to hate your first set. It usually takes two or three sets to get the formula perfect since every person has a different hair style, product use, etc. As a matter of fact, that’s what happened to me but the team at Formulate worked with me to make adjustments and I feel in love the second time around!
For me, my hair is medium in thickness, oily-dry, long but straight and my scalp often feels tight and itchy. I wanted to focus on mending split ends, adding volume, lengthening, replenishing and adding gloss. So the ingredients they recommended for me were broccoli seed oil, saw palmetto, argan oil and more! I loved that these are ingredients I actually understand and can pronounce. :) I even got to pick my own scent and the strength of it so I chose Tidal since its light and lifting and in the medium strength. They send a cute little card that tells you exactly what is in your customized bottles and how they impact your hair! This was super helpful!!
Formulate uses all ingredients that are 100% sulfate free, paraben free, and animal cruelty free! With that being said, your hair might need a few weeks to detox from the current chemicals you’re using in your hair routine so don’t worry! My hair detoxed by my roots quickly getting greasy but I just added some dry shampoo and it made all the difference. Every one is a little different so just be patient and remember your feeding your hair with GOOD ingredients so it’s worth it! Get all those toxins out girlfriend!!
I am now on week 4 of using my Formulate routine and my hair has truly never looked and felt this good! The number one difference I have noticed is the volume. I air dry my hair a lot and usually it’s so flat but now, BAM! Feels so full, soft and shiny. I also can get an extra day or two between washes without using a ton of dry shampoo. Needless to say, I am a BIG fan and will be purchasing my next set this week. It’s that good!
