WHAT IS FIVE FOOT SOMETHING?
Hi there and welcome to my very first LIVE blog post- I am so happy to have you here at Five Foot Something! Since it's our first time (virtually) meeting I thought it would be incredibly rude if I just dove into my usual content posts without introducing myself or tell you why I even started this whole thing! I'm from the Midwest, I have better manners than that. I want to start off by doing a brief Q + A so you can get to know a little bit about me and to learn what's in it for YOU. Why wait any longer? Let's do this thing!
Q: WHY DID YOU START A BLOG?
A: Oh boy where do I even begin? I have wanted to start a blog for a couple of years now but I haven't pulled the trigger for a number of reasons. I was so intimidated of the virtual world and the expectations people would have of me entering it. After all I recently graduated from college so I'm #broke, I'm only 5'2 and look nothing like the women on Instagram, people are going to think I'm totally crazy!! That's when it clicked... I knew I couldn't be the only one feeling this way and that's when my the fire for this baby started. I'm here to be a helpful hand, a friend, give inspiration, and heck if anything just make someone smile. Life is too short to worry about what others are going to think of you. People are going to have an opinion regardless of what you do so you might as well do something you love! So here I am, doing the damn thing. Q: HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE NAME- FIVE FOOT SOMETHING?
A: When I was trying to think of a name for my blog I had the hardest time. Everything I loved was either already taken or I was simply overthinking it. I thought of Five Foot Something while I was in the half lit dressing room trying on pants and literally said out loud… “Why in the h*ll don’t more brands make jeans for people who are five foot two or something, UGH!” Then it dawned on me. I Googled to see if it was taken right then and there and the rest was history.
Q: YOU LIVE IN INDIANAPOLIS- HOW DO YOU THINK THAT INFLUENCES YOUR STYLE?
A: I grew up in a small town just outside of Indianapolis and never truly appreciated the city until I came home from college. My hometown has a total of 3 stop lights and I could name everyones car in the parking lot of my high school. No joke! Indy is filled with so many beautifully unique people that I feed off of their style. It’s relatively small but it has so many unique pockets of art, restaurants, and fun things to do it constantly keeps my creative juices flowing. I have to say my favorite part about this is city is how laid back it is so a lot of looks I try and go for are easy, effortless, and casual while adding a little edge and sass. Can’t forget the sass!
Q: FAVORITE TREND AT THE MOMENT?
A: This is a tough one as I love so many right now but I’d have to say the raw hem look. With being 5’2” finding jeans that are made to fit my length is about damn near impossible so I love the fact that I can buy a pair of jeans and if they’re too long I can just take them home, chop the bottom off and wa la! No one ever knows the difference PLUS I can customize them to how I really want. Ya know, just trying to give these fashion designers a run for their money! HA.
Q: WHATS IN IT FOR YOUR READERS?
A: As much as I would like to say I started this blog for myself I really started this for you. Yes, you! I want to create a community of short (but feisty) young women who are looking to inspire and support one another all while letting the world know that being five foot something never looked so good! I want to help you create your dream closet by providing you with discount codes, style/beauty advice, and giveaways all while keeping your pennies in your pocket. I hope to inspire you by posting helpful articles and videos to create affordable looks that not only fit but make you feel amazing every single day! I promise to give ya’ll my everything and promote brands that I actually use and love, only to help make your life a little easier one day at a time. Are you ready to join this crazy journey with me?
