THE PERFECT TRAVEL OUTFIT FOR A MIDWEST GETAWAY
Hi guys!! Hope you’re all having the best day. I wanted to pop on here and share the perfect travel outfit and all the details about my weekend in Butler County, Ohio that Aaron and I took last month! I know I created a blog post talking all about what to pack for a fall weekend getaway so if you haven’t seen that yet, definitely check that out first! But if you’re in the Midwest and looking for a fun place to getaway (that’s not too far), here’s everything I recommend doing in the area and our fav parts of the weekend! :)
Our weekend started off with the Butler County Donut Trail and if you’re not familiar with it, then I suggest you click here to learn more! Basically, it’s like a bar crawl, but for donuts, so you know we had the BEST time doing this. LOL! We went to four different local stops, and tried so many different types from cookies to cereal to original glaze, we had them ALL. My favorite place was Holtman’s Donuts because they had SO many flavors to choose from (s’mores was the best) and their shop was Instagram worthy! :)
Next stop on the trip was Jungle Jim’s International Market! Not going to lie, when I first saw this on our itinerary I thought to myself… why are we going to a grocery store?! My boyfriend Aaron was SO incredibly pumped to go here because he grew up going to this store as a kid and I quickly realized why he was so excited!! It was absolutely… GINORMOUS! They had food from all over the world, a bar to grab a beer or wine while you shopped and the most interesting displays I’ve ever seen! I was basically a kid in a candy store… it was SO cool! So much so that I had to FaceTime my two year old nephew because I knew he would think we were in the North Pole! :) Not to mention they had every old school PEZ known to man!! Who else used to LOVE those things?!
Next up, we went to an old school drive in restaurant called Jolly’s and it brought be back to my Dogs N’ Suds days! Seriously, I need those back in my life because they were so dam* good!! It gave me so many retro vibes and we had the best burger and french fries I’ve had in such a long time. The prices were SO affordable and we even got the best root beer floats! Sign me up, please!!
Afterwards went to a drive in movie which was so so fun because Aaron had never been before! I used to go all the time in high school and get Steak N’ Shake before, (HAHA), so this was really fun making new memories with him. We OBVIOUSLY had to get popcorn and sour gummy worms to watch Crazy Rich Asians, and to no surprise… I cried and laughed the entire movie! I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it but I LOVED it!!
We finished up the weekend in true Amara and Aaron style but getting some amazing food at Flipside Liberty! I got the Fried Chicken Benedict and it was one of the most amazing meals I’ve ever had! It was also so cute in there so we obviously had to treat ourself to a mimosa and beer before heading back to Indy!
That’s a wrap for our trip to Butler County, Ohio! It was such a great weekend getaway since it was under and 2 hour drive and we got to spend some quality time together in a new city.
